Keynote Sessions
TUESDAY 27th OCTOBER
Session 27F1 -Keynote Theatre 2 @ 09:00
The Energy Challenge for IT and Facility Management.
Presented by Philippe Arsonneau, APC by Schneider Electric, IT Business, Vice President IDACH and Central Europe
This keynote session will discuss the dilemma of the world wide increase in demand of energy in parallel with the drive to the reduction of CO2 emissions, how Co2 emissions drastically influence both IT and FM and how you can achieve energy efficiency in the datacenter to help address the worldwide energy challenges.
Session 27B2 - Keynote Theatre 1 @ 09:50
Saving the data center of the future by better managing information today. Presented by Mathew Lodge, Symantec Corporation
The quickly growing pool of information and storage isn’t just squeezing budgets. It is limiting new dynamic application architectures, binding virtual servers to physical storage and clogging the network arteries that would move everything around the clouds. Managing information means storing efficiently, protecting just enough, finding easily and confidently deleting information. Save money today and lay the foundation for the data center of the future by marrying deduplication, archiving and data protection with virtualization.
Session 27F3 - Keynote Theatre 2 @ 11:00
Storage Virtualisation - The Whole Story.
Presented by Barry Whyte, SVC Performance Architect, IBM Hursley
Storage Virtualization is an often abused term. In this session, IBM Master Inventor Barry Whyte, describes what heterogeneous Storage Virtualization really means, the benefits it can provide and how it can help you to solve traditionally complex business problems in a consistent and simple manner. During this session a brief history of storage virtualization will be covered, and aspects of the IBM SAN Volume Controller will be discussed.
Session 27B4 - Keynote Theatre 1 @ 11:50
Dynamic Storage Infrastructures.
Presented by Dr. Helmut Beck, Vice President Storage, Fujitsu Technology Solutions.
Fujitsu´s main priority is focusing on its customers and their respective business needs. With Dynamic Storage Infrastructures, Fujitsu clearly addresses these needs and offers tailor-made solutions, which efficiently manage data growth and offer superior data protection. Being the fourth-largest IT company, Fujitsu offers outstanding products and solutions combined with excellent services. Furthermore, because of Fujitsu´s extensive experience in the IT business, Fujitsu also has the intellectual property to successfully manage your IT infrastructure.
Session 27B5 - Keynote Theatre 1 @ 13:30
Dedupe Centric Storage.
Presented by Brian Biles, Vice President of Product Management, EMC Backup Recovery Systems (BRS) Division
The revolution to come with deduplication will eclipse the snapshot revolution of the early 1990s. Because it directly addresses one of the key engines of data growth, deduplication should be at the heart of any data management strategy. Ideally, a deduplication technology would be able to find and eliminate redundant data no matter which application writes it, even if different applications have written the same data. This session outlines the concepts behind a Dedupe Centric approach to storage, and then applies them to a forward look at the direction the technology and future deduplication systems must take for the full potential of data deduplication to be realized.
Session 27B7 - Keynote Theatre 1 @ 15:10
Emerging Technologies in the Virtualised World.
Presented by Kevin Wittmer, Director of Enterprise Solutions Marketing, Dell
This keynote presentation will discuss a pragmatic approach to planning for and building the datacenter of today and the future based on standards-based architectures that complement and extend current IT investments. The presentation will include how the continuing evolution and integration of storage technologies further enable the Virtualised World to simply and cost-effectively drive IT simplification to deliver measurable, tangible benefits to the organization. Topics discussed will include how to evolve your virtual datacenter to simply take advantage of 10Gb Data Center Ethernet for the next generation storage area network infrastructure; how to prepare a flexible storage infrastructure to leverage private and external clouds; and how networked storage is becoming the foundation of virtual server and desktop computing that is evolving to transparently adapt to an increasingly dynamic IT environment
WEDNESDAY 28th OCTOBER
Session 28B1 - Keynote Theatre 1 @ 09:30
Trends and Challenges in the Current Climate.
Presented by Steve Duplessie, Founder/Sr. Analyst, ESG
The presentation will focus on current and future trends facing IT professionals, including a discussion of some conflicts which often arise inside IT organizations themselves, and how to recognize and react to them. The objective of the presentation is to expose IT professionals to how different groups within IT may have objectives that appear combative to the objectives of the other groups - and how that dynamic can negatively affect overall IT cohesion. Solutions will be presented on how to recognize these issues before they become significant problems, and how to create "win-win" strategies within the organization.
Session 28B2 - Keynote Theatre 2 @ 10:20
2010 - The Decade of Network Convergence.
Presented by Jeff Benck, Chief Operating Officer, Emulex Corporation
2010 will be the first year of the network convergence decade. As 2009 comes to a close, we’re seeing strong industry support for products utilizing network convergence based on 10Gb/s Enhanced Ethernet. Why? Network convergence makes business sense and it is the right technology, at the right time and in the right place. The next data center transformation is upon us and network convergence will be at the forefront of the transition, connecting the next generation of high performance hardware and optimizing deployment of data center virtualization technology. This session examines the key trends and challenges in building the data center of the future; the network convergence value proposition for business; use cases for deploying network convergence today and tomorrow; simplifying data center infrastructure and deployment; why network convergence is better for virtualization and how Emulex is leading the way as part of the network convergence ecosystem.
Session 28F3 - Keynote Theatre 2 @ 11:30
Virtualization - changing the face of IT Infrastructure.
Presented by Ken Male, Founder & CEO, TheInfoPro
Originally a technology meant to alleviate server sprawl, Virtualization has since evolved into a strategic technology that helps reduce over-all IT costs, reduces energy consumption and allows for better quality of service both within the IT departments and among an organizations end-users. This evolution, however, has caused a ripple effect throughout the four corners of the IT Infrastructure: Servers, Storage, Security and Networking - thereby acting as the catalyst bringing about a shift in how enterprises organize, plan, evaluate, implement and procure. Based on six-monthly in-depth interviews with hundreds of IT decision makers within major organizations this presentation will provide fact-based data on timeframes, costs, spending and the key business and technical drivers for Virtualization.
Session 28F4 - Keynote Theatre 2 @ 12:20
KEY DEBATE: IT and Facilities Management, working together or apart?
This session will feature an interact debate chaired by Steve O'Donnell of ESG designed to help address your IT and Facility Management pain points. Listen to and question, data center experts from different areas like storage, server, physical infrastructure, energy efficiency, cooling optimization including APC, IBM, NetApp, Stulz and VMware.
